The refurbishment of Hanley Indoor Market represents the single biggest investment since the facility opened three decades ago.
Hanley Indoor Market represents Perfect Circle’s first appointment from Stoke-on-Trent City Council. The brief is to refurbish the market, with the priorities being to refurbish vacant stalls, improve lighting throughout the market and upgrade the public toilet provision.
The indoor market is located on the ground floor of the Potteries Shopping Centre. The centre was constructed in the early 1980s, with the Council taking a lease of the ground floor to accommodate the market. Since opening there has been little further investment or upgrades to the facility.
The market comprises of 130 stalls; of which only around 100 are currently occupied. Through this programme of imporvements, the council hopes to improve footfall, reduce vacant stalls and increase revenue the Council is looking to invest in improvements to the market.
The existing public toilets in the market are well used by the public. Other public toilets in the area have been demolished as part of public realm improvements, with the promise that additional toilets would be provided as part of this scheme.
