In the next instalment of Perfect Circle's People Profile series, here is an introduction to Ashley Buckland, Managing Partner of JB Associates.
With a history of over 25 + years in the industry, Ashley started as an Apprentice Electrician for NG Bailey, and now he combines expertise in mechanical and electrical engineering, project management, and quantity surveying. Ashley is committed to supporting clients success by providing comprehensive solutions and fostering innovation in the construction industry.

'Joining JB Associates and starting up my own business to work with clients and projects I’m interested in, while building a niche, agile business that employs 40 people and can deliver high quality work'.

JB Associates have worked on multiple commissions via Perfect Circle, including DSTL, NHS Blood & Transplant, and a decarbonisation rollout programme across 27 sites for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Police and Crime Commissioner.
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
'I would say my kids but that is not the case as it's normally my dog, Frank, wanting his early morning walk!'.
What does a typical day look like?
'A typical day for me starts with an early dog walk with Frank, which is a great way to clear my head before the day begins.
I’ll then usually have an espresso at the island in our kitchen, with my laptop open while I check through emails and catch up on anything urgent. After that, I’ll have a shower and get ready to head into the office, either catching the train to London or driving into our Lymington office.
Most days are fairly busy, with a number of client or team meetings. I could also be out meeting clients, going through project delivery, reviewing progress, and looking at new schemes and opportunities.
Because of this, the best time for me to properly focus on emails is usually early in the morning or later in the evening'.
How much of your workload includes Perfect Circle commissions?
'About 15-20%'.
What do you like most about your role?
'Client relationships and pre construction and business planning with clients'.
If you could switch jobs with someone, who would it be?
'Not my wife!'
What is your biggest achievement to date?
'Professionally, it has been building my own business. Personally, it's my wife and our three boys'.
