Perfect Circle People | Kieran Ronnie
In this instalment of Perfect Circle's 'People Profile' series, we are delighted to introduce Kieran Ronnie, AECOM's Head of Social Value.
Career History
'I am lucky enough to have been working in Social Value for over a decade now. Beginning my career at Multiplex delivering community engagement and social value onsite at major infrastructure projects across the healthcare and education sector.
I am now coming up on my five year anniversary with AECOM which has provided an incredible mix of social value delivery on our projects, supporting clients with their social value approach, and working with our own teams to embed our own Social Value strategy.
Currently I’m proud to lead our amazing Social Value team within the Strategy & Growth function. This involves understanding how we can deliver on the aims of our clients, our people and the communities we work with, ensuring what we do is targeted, intentional and delivers genuine impact'.
Career Highlight
'At the start of the year we delivered a Social Value careers hackathon with the Young Professionals in Social Value network. In a discipline with poorly defined career paths and often disparate professionals across the industry, it was amazing to be in the room with a whole group of younger and more experienced social value professionals, all passionate about improving the sector for the benefit of all. Look out for the findings report coming out next month!'
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
'Having the opportunity to work across so many different sectors is a real perk (and challenge!) of the job. My morning could consist of social value within either aviation, defence, energy, defence, buildings, social infrastructure and so much more. And often all of the above. However that means I get to see our justice teams work with social enterprises to improve prison leavers employability, or the defence teams creating new education programmes to address sectoral skills gaps, or pro-bono design and engineering expertise enabling a homelessness organisation to provide beds for those relying on their services. Who wouldn't jump out of bed for that.'
What do you like most about your role?
'The great thing about Social Value is that it no two days are the same. Whether it is innovative social value initiatives being delivered on our projects such as our Virtual SEND Careers Fair on the Northumberland Line Programme, working with our amazing social enterprise and third sector partners such as CRASH, The Land Collective, Forests with Impact, or engaging with different market sector teams across the business to understand how we can deliver a legacy through our work - there really isn't a typical day'.
If you could switch jobs with someone, who would it be?
'Andrew Robertson - just in time to lead Scotland out at the World Cup this summer. However I don't think any other Scotland fan would support such a substitution.'
